Despite superhero movies being the most dominant genre in Hollywood, video game tie-ins are a rarity these days. That’s mostly because they became well known for being terrible (see SEGA’s Iron Man games and The Amazing Spider-Man 2), but Sony has now announced two PlayStation 4 exclusive comic book adaptations coming our way in the near future.
While they’re not based on movies, both look incredible and are very different. Batman: Arkham VR is set to be released in October and comes from Rocksteady, the developers of the critically acclaimed Arkham series. As the title indicates, it will utilise Sony’s new VR technology to put players inside Batman’s cowl and that’s Mark Hamill narrating the teaser.
Spider-Man meanwhile comes from Insomniac and will allow gamers to take control of an experienced Peter Parker who is more masterful at fighting crime. He has a new look costume and looks downright spectacular in the trailer below which is clearly made up of both cinematics and gameplay footage. It’s amazing this one has been kept a secret!
Expect more details over the coming months, but for now, it’s fair to say that it’s a good time to be a fan of comic books and video games. Of course, if the former aren’t for you, you may want to take a look at
