Netflix has released a dashing first look image of the newly crowned Tobias Menzies as the sometimes inappropriate husband of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, in the next season of The Crown.

The new image joins those we have already seen from our Royal cast entering the next chapter in their regal lives. So, far we have first looks for Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Anne and Ben Daniel’s as Antony Armstrong-Jones

The newest cast announcement’s see Josh O’Connor take on the role of a teenage Prince Charles while Marion Bailey takes on the role of The Queen Mother. Olivia Coleman takes over the role as Queen Elizabeth II, Tobias Menzies takes over the role of Prince Phillip from Matt Smith. Helena Bonham Carter takes over the role of Princess Margaret from Vanessa Kirby, Ben Daniels takes over as Antony Armstrong-Jones from Matthew Goode. Erin Doherty will play Princess Anne, and Jason Watkins will play Harold Wilson.

The plan is to have the period drama run for six seasons following the Queen’s story throughout her whole life – each season representing a decade. As a result, the plan has always been to shake up the casting every two seasons with older actors taking on the roles.

The producers have previously confirmed that Princess Diana would be introduced toward the end of the third season and will be featured heavily in the fourth and as-yet-unofficial fifth seasons. As yet an actress has yet to be cast in the role.

Season 3 of The Crown will arrive on Netflix in 2019
