Our friends at Den of Geek are reporting that everyone’s favourite browncoat Nathan Fillion has signed on to star in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters, 20th Century Fox’s upcoming sequel to 2010’s Lightning Thief.

Fillion will play the Greek God Hermes, who appeared briefly in the original movie, although played by another actor. It’s a villainous role, and Fillion will therefore clash with Percy Jackson, the demigod son of Poseidon, as he attempts to free his satyr friend Grover Underwood (Brandon T. Jackson) and recover the mythical golden fleece in the process.

Directed by Thor Freudenthal and slated for a March 2013 release, Percy Jackson 2 was one of many half-forgotten films to feature on the site’s annual list of upcoming sequels. Along with the obvious titles – Tintin 2, Star Trek 2 and Transformers 4 – the list also revisits a few that you might have missed.

Also on the way, according to Den of Geek, are sequels to Grown Ups, Step Brothers and Scary Movie (oh dear), as well as Real Steel, Attack the Block and District (oh right). So, there you go.
