Millie Bobby Brown is riding the success of her pivotal role in Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’ by taking on an undisclosed role in Marvel’s ‘The Eternals’.

The film is to be adapted by indie director Chloé Zhao (The Rider) and would see Brown joining previously announced cast members Kumail Nanjiani, Ma Dong-Seok and Richard Madden. Others rumoured to be joining the cast are Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek.

Making their first appearance in 1976, ‘The Eternals’ are a species of humanity, described as an offshoot of the evolutionary process that created sentient life on Earth. Created by an Alien species known as Celestials, they were created to be the defenders of Earth, which leads to the inevitability of war against their destructive counterparts, the Deviants.

The film is thought to centre around Sersi, a fourth-generation member of the group born during the Hyborean Age who can manipulate cosmic energy to give her virtual immortality, invulnerability and molecular manipulation.

In 2006, Neil Gaiman and artist John Romita, Jr. created a mini-series to bring the story up-to-date with the modern Marvel Universe.

Now that ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ have wrapped up the current phase of the MCU universe, fans have been left in limbo as to what to expect next. Thankfully, with San Diego Comic-Con just around the corner Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is expected to unveil brand-new franchise starters at the convention with ‘The Eternals’ expected to be the first to drop.

Brown can currently be seen in season 3 of ‘Strangers Things’ on Netflix. She was last seen on the big screen in ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ and will be reprising her role in the follow-up ‘Godzilla Vs Kong’. She will also star as Sherlock Holmes’ sister in the forthcoming ‘Enola Holmes’ opposite Henry Cavill.
