The We and the I posterAfter getting the brilliant first trailer for Michel Gondry’s next film, The We and the I, earlier this week, a great new poster has made its way online, featuring a colourful array of all the characters set against a backdrop of the New York City Subway Map.

The Oscar-winning Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) is directing from a script he co-wrote with Jeffrey Grimshaw and Paul Proch, going with a cast of largely unknowns, and it looks like we have something to really look forward to here.

“The We and the I is the heartfelt and comical story of the final bus ride home for a group of young high school students and graduates. As kids depart the bus for the last time, we get to learn about these graduates as they step into the world – their love, their conflicts, their despair and their hope.”

There have been hints of sci-fi/time travel elements to the film, which makes it all the more intriguing, especially since the trailer didn’t ostensibly give any of that away. We could be in for something even more brilliant than it looks already!

In case you missed them, you can also take a look at the first French poster we saw for the film this week, as well as a great new batch of images, by clicking here.

The We and the I is debuting in the Directors’ Fortnight section of Cannes, kicking off today. As yet, no word on when we can expect to see it in cinemas, with distribution likely to be picked up at the festival, so we’ll be sure to bring you word as soon as it comes. Until then, the great new poster for your viewing pleasure.
