Universal Pictures have today unveiled the first look at their upcoming thriller,
The film is set for release during awards season and is based on the best-selling novel by Jo Nesbo. The book was the 7th novel in the Harry Hole series from the author and was a huge critical success as well as selling 34 million copies so far since when it was first released.
Tomas Alfredson (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy) directs the film which has been written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, writer of Deepwater Horizon, World War Z and State of Play.
Here’s the official synopsis:
When an elite crime squad’s lead detective (Fassbender) investigates the disappearance of a victim on the first snow of winter, he fears an elusive serial killer may be active again. With the help of a brilliant recruit (Ferguson), the cop must connect decades-old cold cases to the brutal new one if he hopes to outwit this unthinkable evil before the next snowfall.
Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs) stars in the film alongside Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible 6), Charlotte gainsbourg (Independence Day: Resurgence), Toby Jones (Sherlock), Chloe Sevigny (Beatriz at Dinner), Val Kilmer (Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang) and J.K. Simmons (Justice League).

The Snowman is set for release on October 13th with a US release set for October 20th.
