Here’s a fun little titbit for all you Trekkies out there.

Slash Film have come across  a 1987 memo from Paramount (see below) which lists all the actors who were up for potential key roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Some familiar faces here (American Werewolf’s Jenny Augutter (sic) as Beverley Crusher. Hmmm?) Also, you’ll notice Wesley Snipes was one of the possible choices for Geordi La Forge. Not sure how the deck of the Enterprise would have coped with a badass Lieutenant Commander strutting his stuff.

Perhaps the biggest surprise here was the fact that there were other actors lined up to play Captain Jean Luc Picard. Surely as soon as Shakespearian actor Patrick Stewart walking into to audition the producers must have realised he was the one!

These ‘what if’s’ are always fun to read and I wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t someone out there now compiling a blog made up similar memo’s and messages regarding film and TV casting rejects. If there isnt, some enthusiatic geek should “make it so” *.
