Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) has been cast as Mary Todd in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, a role that had reportedly been awarded to Robin McLeavy (The Loved Ones).

Winstead will star opposite Benjamin Walker (Kinsey), Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) and Dominic Cooper (Tamara Drewe) in the adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s mash-up novel.

President Lincoln’s mother is killed by a supernatural creature, which fuels his passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers.

Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) is attached to direct, with production expected to start soon.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will be released on August 22, 2012.

Winstead will next be seen in The Thing.
