Man-of-Steel-Character-Poster-Kal-ElWe’ve got little more than a week before Zack Snyder’s immensely anticipated Man of Steel hits the big screen, and the countdown is very much on for what promises to be one of the most successful films of the year.

The buzz surrounding the film has been immeasurable, and we’re as excited as everyone about Superman’s return.

With the film’s release date fast approaching, the first clip from Snyder’s blockbuster has made its way online from its debut on the Ellen show.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Henry Cavill is front and centre as the eponymous Man of Steel himself, Kal-El / Superman / Clark Kent. And he is joined by a terrific cast, led by Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, Richard Schiff, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, and Laurence Fishburne.

Snyder is directing from a script penned by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy), who co-wrote the story with Christopher Nolan.

Man of Steel will be released in 2D, 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D on June 14th in the US and UK. The countdown stands at just nine days, and I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to the end of next week.
