Disney+ has unveiled the official trailer for FX’s ‘Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette,’ offering a first, intimate glimpse into the romance that transfixed America and became one of the most scrutinised love stories of the 20th century.
The limited series marks the first instalment in Ryan Murphy’s new “Love Story” anthology, and centres on the undeniable chemistry, whirlwind courtship and high-profile marriage of John F. Kennedy Jr. (Paul Anthony Kelly) and Carolyn Bessette (Sarah Pidgeon). Inspired by Elizabeth Beller’s acclaimed book Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the nine-episode series will premiere on February 13, launching with the first three episodes, followed by weekly instalments.
The trailer paints a portrait of a romance lived under a relentless spotlight. John F. Kennedy Jr., often described as the closest thing to American royalty, grew up in full public view, evolving from a grieving child into a cultural icon and media obsession. Carolyn Bessette, fiercely private and effortlessly stylish, carved out her own path, rising from a sales assistant to a senior executive at Calvin Klein and becoming a trusted confidante of its founder.
Their connection, depicted as instant and electric, unfolds against a backdrop of flashing cameras, tabloid frenzy and suffocating fame. As the trailer suggests, what began as a modern fairy tale soon becomes a pressure cooker, with public fascination threatening to fracture a deeply personal bond.
Alongside Kelly and Pidgeon, the series boasts an impressive supporting cast, including Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, Naomi Watts as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein, Leila George as Kelly Klein, Sydney Lemmon as Lauren Bessette, and Constance Zimmer as Ann Marie Messina. Together, they help chart the emotional highs and devastating lows of a couple whose private love became a national obsession.
