Lily Collins is set to portray screen legend Audrey Hepburn in a new feature film centered on the making of the 1961 classic ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s.’ The project will explore the cultural moment that transformed Hepburn from beloved star into a shimmering global icon.
Screenwriter Alena Smith is adapting the film from Sam Wasson’s bestselling book ‘Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.’ The book chronicles the creative collisions, studio politics and shifting social tides that shaped the romantic comedy and redefined femininity on screen.
Before stepping into Holly Golightly’s stilettos, Hepburn had already captured Hollywood’s heart, winning an Academy Award for her luminous turn in ‘Roman Holiday.’ She followed it with a string of classics, including ‘Sabrina’ and ‘Funny Face.’ But it was 1961’s ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ that crystallised her image forever.

Directed by Blake Edwards for Paramount Pictures and based on Truman Capote’s novella, the film follows Holly Golightly, a beguiling New York socialite who becomes entangled with a writer newly arrived in her apartment building, even as secrets from her past loom like storm clouds over Fifth Avenue. The movie earned five Oscar nominations, including Best Actress for Hepburn, and won for Score and Song. In 2012, it was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry, cementing its place in American cinematic history.
The upcoming biographical drama will be produced by Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody and Justin Wilkes for Imagine Entertainment, with Marc Gilbar serving as executive producer and Joyce Choi overseeing development.
Collins will also produce alongside Charlie McDowell and Alex Orlovsky for Case Study Films, joined by LaStaiti. Wasson and Brandon Millan will executive produce for Felix Farmer Productions, with Michael Shamberg also serving as executive producer.
