HBO Max has released the first official teaser for ‘Lanterns,’ the upcoming DC drama series starring Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre and Kelly Macdonald.
The series, produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television, follows two members of the legendary intergalactic peacekeeping force known as the Green Lantern Corps. The story centres on rookie John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern veteran Hal Jordan (Chandler) as they become entangled in a chilling murder investigation deep in the American heartland.
Set against a grounded mystery backdrop, the series blends cosmic DC mythology with a gritty detective narrative. As the two Lanterns dig deeper into the case, they uncover secrets that could have far-reaching consequences far beyond Earth.
Inspired by characters from the iconic DC Comics series ‘Green Lantern,’ ‘Lanterns’ explores the partnership between two very different heroes.
John Stewart, a new recruit still learning the vast responsibilities of wielding a power ring, finds himself paired with Hal Jordan, a seasoned Lantern whose experience may hide its own secrets. Their investigation into a mysterious murder gradually reveals a conspiracy that stretches far beyond a single crime scene.
The pilot episode is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, who also serve as co-creators of the series. Mundy will also act as showrunner.
The first two episodes are directed by James Hawes, with additional episodes helmed by Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel and Alik Sakharov. Executive producers include Mundy, Lindelof, James Gunn, Peter Safran, King, Ron Schmidt and Hawes.
