With Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis set to dance to the tune of Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan this year there’s news on another film centred around ballet, Evan Greenberg’s Dance of the Mirlitons has a new cast member in Kristen Bell.

THR are reporting that Bell has joined the cast and now Greenberg and his producers are looking for the other crucial piece of the casting puzzle in the character of the daughter, and an unknown is being sought.

They describe the script, which has been on the cusp of production for a few years,

[It] centers on an ambitious, slightly overweight ballerina with an overbearing mother (Bell) who will stop at nothing to become a star. The girl enters a “Mean Girls”-type environment when she has to prove her worth in class.

The stars are now aligning with Bell on board and once the daughter is cast production will begin later in the year, with Greenberg giving a nice, optimistic quote,

I’ve never felt about anything like I do about this. It’s etched in my psyche. I hope that one day people will talk about how it was one of those movie that came together, fell apart, came together again. The best projects are the ones that take the most elbow grease to get made.
