It seems like a long time coming, but this week sees a return for the Knights Templars in season 2 of Knightfall in the UK. At the end of season one having fallen from grace, Landry (Tom Cullen) was battered and bruised from an almighty battle with King Philip (Ed Stoppard) and left holding his newborn child.

Knightfall chronicles the mysterious but true accounts of the Knights Templar, the elite warriors of the Crusades. It delves into the great secrets protected by the Templars and tells the story of faith, loyalty and brotherhood that help sustain these warriors on the battlefield and the dark events that would forever sear the infamous date of Friday the 13th into the world’s psyche.

At eight episodes, Season 2 promises even more low points for Landry as he finds himself on a path to redemption. No longer a Knights Templar he finds himself at the mercy of the order and will do anything to be accepted once more. That’s not all season 2 promises, after speaking with a number of the cast we find out that the violent action has been ramped up. Many of the cast return, but there are also a number of new faces including that of Mark Hamill in a role which might take many by surprise.

The historical drama stars Tom Cullen, Pádraic Delaney, Simon Merrells, Clementine Nicholson, Julian Ovenden, Ed Stoppard, Nassar Memarzia, Jim Carter, Olivia Ross, Genevieve Gaunt, Bobby Schofield, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina and the one and only Mark Hamill.

We had the honour of sitting down with a number of the cast including leading man Tom Cullen, Simon Merrills who plays Landry’s best friend and fellow Knights Templar Tancrede, Pádraic Delaney who plays Landry’s nemesis Gawain, once the greatest swordsman of the Templar Order and the newly joined Clementine Nicholson who plays Queen Margaret, the wife of Prince Louis, to chat about season 2 and more.

Knigthfall Season 2 premieres on History at 9pm on July 2nd.
