Kingsman: The Secret Service was a critical and commercial success, and the movie which is based on the comic book by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons recently passed the $400 million mark at the worldwide box office. As a result, it should come as no surprise to learn that a sequel has now been given a green light!

There’s currently no word on a release date or the chances of director Matthew Vaughn returning to helm the follow-up, but reliable sources report that the movie is indeed moving ahead at 20th Century Fox.

The X-Men: First Class director not returning for Kick-Ass 2 had pretty disappointing results, and so this news becomes a little less exciting when you start thinking about the chances of that happening. With any luck though, up and coming actor Taron Egerton will end up reprising his role. While there’s no word of a comic book sequel being in the works, Vaughn has said he has ideas for another movie, so fingers crossed!

Of course, he might a little busy with directing the Flash Gordon remake if recent reports are to be believed.
