The welcome box office success of Kingsman: The Secret Service gave us a two things. We saw a star-making turn for Taron Egerton, who as Eggsy offered us a delightful anti-Bond secret agent, and Colin Firth had the chance to finally kick some arse.

Most of the news reports concerning the sequel, subtitled The Golden Circle, have been around the ever growing cast. Taron Egerton is obviously back along with Mark Strong, who also returns as Merlin. Newcomers to the series include Halle Berry as the head of the CIA, Pedro Pascal as the mysterious “Jack Daniels”, as well as Channing Tatum and The Big Lebowski dream team of Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges.

However there is also another character returning from the first film, one that you might not expect.

Pedro Pascal has been tweeting from set of Matthew Vaughan’s film, which leaves little doubt about the return of Colin Firth. Keen viewers will note that Firth’s character Harry Hart met his end in the first film, so they’ll be a lot of explaining to do. Flashbacks – pre-recorded footage – evil twin brother? Whatever happens it’ll be great to see Firth back as the extremely dapper spy.

Time will tell.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is set to be released worldwide on June 16th, 2017
