Kinect Red Ring of DeathPS3 owners have long lauded over the Xbox 360’s seemingly inescapable hardware failure.

But tales of the infamous ‘red ring of death’ have quietened in recent months as Microsoft has worked continually to create workarounds and fix machines as soon as they break.

Alas, it seems the dark days are back again, with the Kinect now blamed for a whole new glut of infuriating console collapses.

Microsoft has vocally denied any connection between the error signal and the Kinect, although the BBC reports numerous tales of Xbox owners picking up on the erroneous timing.

We’d even be a little dubious if the exact same thing didn’t happen to us on Boxing Day after having plugged the Kinect in for only the third time, and a brief search across a number of Xbox forums found countless other bemoaning the same thing.

Microsoft’s official stance?

“There is no correlation between the three flashing red lights error and Kinect. Any new instances of the three flashing red lights error are merely coincidental.”

Hmm…..
