Kathryn Hahn may soon be letting down her hair at Disney.

The ‘Agatha All Along’ star is in talks to play Mother Gothel in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of ‘Tangled.’ While no deal has been finalised, Hahn is eyeing the plum villain role, one that would place her front and centre as the film’s primary antagonist.

If the casting comes together, Hahn would join the previously announced Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim as charming rogue Flynn Rider, rounding out the film’s trio of leads. Mother Gothel is the iconic villain from Disney’s 2010 animated hit, a manipulative figure who masquerades as Rapunzel’s overprotective guardian while secretly exploiting the young woman’s magical hair to preserve her own youth and beauty.

Michael Gracey, best known for directing ‘The Greatest Showman,’ is set to helm the live-action ‘Tangled,’ with production expected to roll later this year. Kristin Burr (Cruella, Freakier Friday) is producing, working from a script by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.

Released in 2010, the original ‘Tangled’ was a major success for Disney, earning nearly $600 million at the global box office. The animated film featured voice performances from Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, Zachary Levi as Flynn Rider, Brad Garrett, and Donna Murphy, whose portrayal of Mother Gothel became one of Disney’s most memorable sinister villains.
