The Jungle Book hasn’t opened in cinemas yet, but Disney are already moving forward with a sequel. Early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, so the studio is clearly confident that they have a hit on their hands, and we’ll find out more about that when it opens on Friday. They’re also looking to bring back director Jon Favreau and writer Justin Marks.

Of course, you’re probably wondering right now how exactly Disney can expand the franchise beyond this first live-action retelling of the classic animated tale. Well, bear in mind that Rudyard Kipling penned many tales featuring Mowgli and company, so the studio can delve into all of those novels in order to continue the character’s story moving forward.

The Jungle Book has already opened in a handful of international locations, bringing in an impressive $31.7 million in the process. Shot entirely on soundstages in Los Angeles, the gorgeous looking movie stars newcomer Neel Sethi along with an incredible voice cast made up of names like Bill Murray, Scarlet Johansson, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, and Lupita Nyong’o.

Disney has found a lot of success with live-action adaptations of their cartoon catalogue, and you can check out an entire gallery of amazing stills from The Jungle Book by clicking here.
