Ahead of its BFI London Film festival European premiere on October 12th and only days after the first trailer dropped, we are delighted to share an exclusive first look of the poster from Mirrah Foulkes feature directorial debut ‘Judy & Punch’. The film is screening at the LFF at 8.45pm at Embankment on Saturday and 1.45pm at the Odeon Leicester Square on Sunday.

The film plays on the age-old story of those seaside puppets that only those of us of a certain age will remember, Punch and Judy. If you thought the puppets were dark, wait until you see Foulkes’ darkly unique twist on the traditional story.

The story is set in the outlandish town of Seaside, located nowhere near the coast, puppeteers Judy and Punch are trying to resurrect their marionette show. The show is a hit due to Judy’s superior puppeteering, but Punch’s driving ambition and penchant for a drink lead to an ill-fated turn of events that Judy must avenge.

Mia Wasikowska plays the role of Judy while Damon Herriman plays the role of the sausage loving abusive alcoholic Punch. Tom Budge as the town bully Mr Frankly, Benedict Hardie as the town’s well-meaning policeman Derek Fairweather,  Gillian Jones as the mysterious Dr Goodtime, Terry Norris as elderly manservant Scaramouche, and Brenda Palmer as his wife Maid Maude.
