When I wrote about Joseph Kahn’s Detention it was after many months of being told how incredible it was. And everyone who told me that was right. It was a fantastically conceived, beautifully shot, criminally overlooked high school time travel film, with a caustic wit throughout.

Kahn is a great one to follow on Twitter too. Unabashed and uncensoring of his opinions on the working life of a director he is usually one to spill beans and wear his heart on his sleeve.

So quite where this new short film came from is a mystery, but it’s the sort of surprise you wish every day would bring. As Kahn himself explains this 15 minute update of Power Rangers is not affiliated, nor endorsed by anyone connected to the property. This is his take on a fan film, starring Katee Sackhoff and James Van Der Beek, and it is the perfect kick up the Hollywoods to whomever owns the film rights to the Power Rangers needs.

There’s a link to Kahn’s interview with Hitfix on the Vimeo page linked below which explains more, but now… gird those nostalgic loins…

Update: Vimeo have taken the NSFW version down. The SFW version is below. Seek out the other version if you can.
