Premium RushPut Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the lead of anything and I’m sold, right off the bat. Put him alongside Michael Shannon, and I’ve got more than I could want. Add to that last year’s brilliant first trailer, and you’ve got one of the coolest-looking films of 2012.

An awesome second trailer has debuted over at Yahoo Movies, along with ten new hi-res images from the film, which sees Gordon-Levitt take the lead alongside the excellent Shannon, Dania Ramirez, Jamie Chung, and Aasif Mandvi.

“Dodging speeding cars, crazed cabbies, open doors, and eight million cranky pedestrians is all in a day’s work for Wilee, the best of New York’s agile and aggressive bicycle messengers. It takes a special breed to ride the fixie — super lightweight, single-gear bikes with no brakes and riders who are equal part skilled cyclists and suicidal nutcases who risk becoming a smear on the pavement every time they head into traffic.

But a guy who’s used to putting his life on the line is about to get more than even he is used to when a routine delivery turns into a life or death chase through the streets of Manhattan. When Wilee picks up his last envelope of the day on a premium rush run, he discovers this package is different. This time, someone is actually trying to kill him.”

David Koepp (Spider-Man, Panic Room) is back behind the camera for the first time since 2008’s Ghost Town, directing from his own script co-written by past collaborator John Kamps (Ghost Town).

Premium Rush will be released in the US on 24th August, before coming to the UK a little later on 14th September. We’ll also have recently seen Gordon-Levitt in the immensity that will be The Dark Knight Rises in July, and can look forward to more of him again in sci-fi actioner Looper opposite Bruce Willis at the end of September – if you’re a fan of his work (aren’t we all?), then we have an awesome few months ahead of us. For now, here’s the great new trailer, followed by the awesome new images, which you can click to enlarge.
