After only a month since it was announced that Jonah Hill was in talks to join Matt Reeves ‘The Batman’, the star has reportedly walked away from negotiations.

It’s not been made clear why Hill has passed on the chance to take on a role in the Robert Pattinson led feature. With discussions under wraps about which character he would play, rumours were rife on whether Hill would play the role of villains The Riddler or The Penguin. Now, Reeves will have to start his search from scratch to find his ideal candidate.

The news comes hot on the hill of the casting of Zoe Kravtiz who comes on board the project to play Seline Kyle/Catwomen. Kravitz, in recent weeks, went head to head with Zazie Beetz of (Deadpool 2, Joker) Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver) and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander for the role but she eventually took the coveted role for the Warner Bros film.

Robert Pattinson will play the role of a young Bruce Wayne/Batman in the “stand-alone, noir” project. Reeves has previously said of the project that the story is “told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films.”

Reeves took over the helm of ‘The Batman’ directing from Ben Affleck in January 2017 and has been developing the elusive project ever since.

No concrete details on the plot have been made available, but rumour on the street is that it will follow a ‘The Long Halloween’ style story with a murder mystery involving multiple villain appearances with Catwoman being one of several in the film. Others like The Penguin, The Riddler and The Mad Hatter have all been rumoured.

No official start date has been set but the film scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.
