Johnny Depp is in advanced negotiations with Kathryn Bigelow to star opposite Tom Hanks in Sleeping Dogs, her follow-up to the Academy Award-winning The Hurt Locker.

Sleeping Dogs, previously titled Triple Frontier, is set in the border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, which is a haven for organized crime, and centers on five men of various ages working in the zone.

Depp, like Hanks, would play one of the five men Mark Boal’s script focuses on.

Production is expected to commence early next year.
