Johnny Depp is in final talks to headline ‘Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol,’ a new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ timeless holiday classic from Paramount Pictures.

Horror auteur Ti West, best known for ‘Pearl’ and ‘Maxxxine,’ is set to direct from a screenplay by Nathaniel Halpern (Tales From the Loop, Legion). Andrea Riseborough (Oblivion, To Leslie) is attached to co-star. Emma Watts will produce, with Stephen Deuters and Jason Forman serving as executive producers.

If the deal closes, Depp will step into the role of Ebenezer Scrooge — the cynical, miserly businessman whose redemption is tested when he’s visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future. The story, set in 19th-century London, has been reimagined countless times, but with West at the helm, audiences can expect a darkly stylish and possibly haunting new take on Dickens’ moral fable.

Paramount is reportedly eyeing a theatrical release for ‘Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol’ on November 13, 2026.
