Joe Alwyn has joined the cast of director Tomas Alfredson’s psychological drama ‘Seance on a Wet Afternoon,’ a new adaptation written by Emmy-winning screenwriter Jack Thorne.
Alwyn will star alongside previously announced cast members Rachel Weisz and Matthew Macfadyen in the haunting thriller, which is currently filming in the UK.
The film centres on Myra, a self-proclaimed medium who convinces her husband, Billy, to help orchestrate a shocking crime. Myra persuades him to kidnap the son of a wealthy family, believing she can later guide police to the missing child and prove the authenticity of her psychic powers. But as her elaborate scheme begins to spiral out of control, Billy discovers that Myra’s obsession could destroy them both.
Alwyn, known for roles in ‘Hamnet’ and ‘The Brutalist,’ joins Oscar-winner Weisz, whose acclaimed performances include ‘The Favourite’ and ‘The Constant Gardener.’ Also starring is Emmy and BAFTA-winning actor Macfadyen, widely recognised for his role in the hit HBO drama Succession and recent appearances in ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Death by Lightning.’
