It’s been a foregone conclusion for quite some time but the powers that be have finally confirmed that ‘Westworld’ actor Jeffrey Wright will play Commissioner Gordon in Matt Reeves’ ‘Batman’.

Wright will join Paul Dano who recently jumped on board the project to play The Riddler after Jonah Hill left a gaping hole in the cast after stepping away from the film.

Zoe Kravtiz recently joined the project to play Seline Kyle/Catwomen. Kravitz, in recent weeks, went head to head with Zazie Beetz of (Deadpool 2, Joker) Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver) and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander for the role but she eventually took the coveted role for the Warner Bros film.

Robert Pattinson will play the role of a young Bruce Wayne/Batman in the “stand-alone, noir” project. Reeves has previously said of the project that the story is “told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films.”

Reeves took over the helm of ‘The Batman’ directing from Ben Affleck in January 2017 and has been developing the elusive project ever since.

No concrete details on the plot have been made available, but rumour has it that it will follow a ‘The Long Halloween’ style story with a murder mystery involving multiple villain appearances with Catwoman being one of several in the film.

No official start date has been set but the film is scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.
