I can’t work out what is the more unlikely here – that a sequel to Clash of the Titans is actually going ahead, or whether the powers that be can convince these two actors to don togas and scream at CG beasties.

This tweet from Production Weekly names Javier Bardem and James Franco as potential starlets heading for Jonathan Liebesman’s sequel to Louis Leterrier’s soulless story of Gods and monsters. Franco is tipped for Agenor, son of Poseidon and Libya while Bardem is giving Ares (god of War) the eye.

Nothing more than rumours and spit at the moment but as the last (hastily included) scene of Clash suggested Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton will return to the series while the producers search for the rest of the cast. Franco is currently making people faint as he appears in Danny Boyle’s latest 127 Hours while Bardem has the curious combo of Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Biutiful and Eat Pray Love keeping his fans in the picture houses.
