Jason Momoa is to lead the new limited series from Apple TV, ‘Chief of War’ from Endeavor Content and Chernin Entertainment.

Created by Momoa alongside Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, he will also serve as executive producer on the series with Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Erik Holmberg and Doug Jung who also serves as showrunner. Justin Chon is in negotiations to direct the first two episodes.

The eight-episode show will follow the epic and unprecedented telling of the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous point of view.

Momoa currently stars in Apple TV+’s post-apocalyptic drama series See, which has been renewed for a third season. This project marks the first project Momoa has written for television. He was last seen in Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ and made a brief appearance in James Gunn’s ‘Peacemaker’ series, returning to his role of ‘Aquaman.’
