In a society that doesn’t give a damn about people like her, a rebellious mother of three struggles against poverty, prejudice and indifference.

Pushed to the margins and denied the dignity of providing for her children, she refuses to accept a life of quiet suffering. Determined to carve out a future on her own terms, she risks everything—her safety, her stability, even her bond with her children—for the chance to claim a piece of paradise that always seemed out of reach.

Speaking to HeyUGuys, director Jasmin Gordon detailed how she cast Call My Agent! star Ophélia Kolb in the lead, citing Kolb’s precision and warmth as essential to embodying a mother pushed to the brink. Gordon discussed the film’s core focus on the stigma surrounding poverty in Swiss society, and her intent to confront the quiet shame and systemic neglect faced by parents who cannot provide for their children.

Gordon also unpacked the practical realities of making the film, particularly the tricky, sensitive work of directing child actors. She noted that while the process demands patience and care, the young performers’ spontaneity and truthfulness gave the story its emotional voltage, grounding the film’s toughest moments in lived-in authenticity.
