James Norton has officially joined the cast of ‘The Beatles’ biopic movies — A Four-Film Cinematic Event, taking on the pivotal role of Brian Epstein, the legendary manager who discovered and guided the Beatles to international stardom.
Directed by Oscar winner Sam Mendes (1917, American Beauty), the ambitious four-part musical biopic will chronicle the rise, reign, and eventual breakup of the Fab Four — told uniquely from the perspective of each band member.

Norton joins an all-star ensemble led by Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison. The project has already made headlines for its unconventional approach, with each film offering an interlocking viewpoint that converges into a sweeping portrait of the most influential band in history.

Recent casting additions include Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, ‘Shōgun’ star Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, ‘The White Lotus’ breakout Aimee Lou Wood, who is in talks to play Harrison’s wife Pattie Boyd, and BAFTA Rising Star winner Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey, Ringo’s first wife.
As Epstein, Norton will embody the man often referred to as “the fifth Beatle.” Epstein discovered the group in Liverpool’s Cavern Club in 1961 and transformed them from local talent into a worldwide phenomenon before his untimely death in 1967 at age 32. His sharp business instincts, vision, and personal devotion were instrumental in shaping the Beatles’ image and success.
Given Epstein’s central role in the band’s story, Norton’s character is expected to appear across all four films, weaving together the individual narratives of Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Starr.
