Led by Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña, David Ayer’s End of Watch soared to #1 in the US back in September, and is finally about to arrive in UK theatres at the end of the month.

Debuting at TIFF to excellent early reviews, the film has since continued its festival circuit – you can read our review from LFF here – and with its UK release just two weeks away, StudioCanal have debuted a trailer for our shores introduced by Gyllenhaal himself.

“A powerful story of family, friendship, love, honor and courage, End Of Watch stars Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as young Los Angeles police officers Taylor and Zavala as they patrol the city’s meanest streets of south central Los Angeles.

Giving the story a gripping, first-person immediacy, the action unfolds entirely through footage from the handheld HD cameras of the police officers, gang members, surveillance cameras, and citizens caught in the line of fire to create a riveting portrait of the city’s darkest, most violent corners, the cops who risk their lives there every day, and the price they and their families are forced to pay.”

Anna Kendrick, America Ferrera, Cody Horn, Natalie Martinez, and Frank Grillo complete the cast nicely, with Ayer (Training Day) directing from his own script.

End of Watch is currently still going strong in a number of theatres in the US, and will be released here in the UK on 23rd November. I can’t wait. This looks to be one of the year’s best crime drama/thrillers.
