The audience loved it and for the first time in years the Oscars was more than a bunch of tired parodies and dull glitz.
Well, I hope you enjoyed it while it lasted. Hugh Jackman has reportedly turned down the host spot for the 2010 ceremony, disappointing many, not least the producers of the show who will now struggle to find someone to replace him.
While the ceremony is all about self congratulatory mass marketing (and hopefully some celebration of the exceptional work by some very talented people) the show has veered from embarrassing to entertaining, and this is mainly due to the host. So, with Jackman flying the next – who’s next?
