Marvel and DC Comics adaptations aren’t the only comic book movies on the horizon, and reboots of slightly more obscure properties The Crow and Red Sonja are both in the works. There have been talks of both coming back to the big screen for years, but each has now taken another step towards becoming a reality.

In the case of The Crow, Corin Hardy’s remake of the 1994 movie which starred Brandon Lee is now eyeing Boardwalk Empire’s Jack Huston to take on the title role. The Hobbit’s Luke Evans was previously attached, but dropped out. Talks are said to be in the very early stages, but this would be quite the casting coup.

Huston received critical acclaim for his work in the HBO drama and last year landed the leading role in Timur Bekmambetov’s Ben-Hur redo. He will also be seen in Pride And Prejudice And Zombies.

Red Sonja is a female warrior who was created by Conan the Barbarian author Robert E. Howard and comic writer Roy Thomas. A movie starring the character has been in development for a long time now, but it’s finally gaining steam as Christopher Cosmo has been hired to write the latest version of the script.

He sold his first script (a post-apocalyptic thriller titled The Fal) in 2012 and has penned a number of other projects which are currently in various stages of development. No director or star is currently attached, bit this is separate to the version which Robert Rodriguez was developing with actress Rose McGowan.

Red Sonja starred in a 1970s Marvel Comics series and was given thetagline “She-Devil with a Sword.”
