After a veritable smorgasbord of superhero news – covering everything from Batman to X-Men: First Class – it appears that Zack Snyder’s Superman has well and truly entered the fray.

With last weekend revealing that Tudor Henry Cavill is the new son of Krypton, the rumourmill has since gone into overdrive with potential Lois Lanes.

Although Rachel McAdams, Jessica Biel, Dianna Agron, Malin Akerman, Kristen Bell and Mary Elizabeth Winstead have been all name-dropped by different sources, another name has since been mentioned as favourite. According to Latino Review, Olivia Wilde (who has done much good work to offset the respect-gobbling Tron: Legacy) has tested for the part. Working for KIN, the source was informed that should she get the job, the dates may need to be pushed back in order to accommodate the Man of Steel.

Should you still be reeling from the mere mention of Stewart’s name, however, don’t worry just yet. Cinemablend also have a source and their’s assures them that Bella Swan is unlikely to get the part, listing Jessica Biel and Rachel McAdams as the forerunners. While nobody would wish Biel on another superhero property (remember Blade: Trinity?), and despite Wilde’s popularity, I am leaning towards McAdams and the previously mentioned Bell.

McAdams in particular might have what it takes to ground the laser-eyed super-alien emotionally. Providing they go in a different direction to Bryan Singer’s overlooked Superman Returns and up the action quotient, McAdams is just too adorable too resist.
