Casting speculation is all the rage these days, and some of it will no doubt be pure fanboy wish fulfillment but there’s few rumours flying around with the same potency of expectation as this one.

Putting Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crushed Promise aside for a moment there are few stars with the same box office and fanboy appeal as Harrison Ford. With his patented world weary gravitas and rough voice Ford can step through the minefield of his recent terrible movies with a resilience that will draw our attention if he is connected with a new film.

And that film may just be Jon Favreau’s adaptation of the Scott Mitchell Rosenburg comic book series Cowboys & Aliens, an exercise in alternate history where Aliens land in the Wild West, sounds like perfect movie adaptation fodder doesn’t it?

Latino Review posted this rumour earlier today following director Jon Favreau’s tweet which said

“Some very cool Cowboys & Aliens casting news coming soon…”

and this project has some serious talent behind it – Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Damon Lindelof are on scripting duties and Kurtzman and Orci are joined by Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and Brian Grazer in the production team.

As our friend Brendon Connelly over at /Film is first to point out Ford’s last desert/alien face off didn’t go down too well, but with Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde on board already Ford will be in good company if this rumour turns out to be true.
