The Alan Partridge MovieAs far as fictional comic characters go, there are few quite as renowned as Alan Partridge. Having once been a successful BBC chat show host, when shooting a guest live on air, Alan was denied a second series. With his career in the balance, he was given a lifeline at Radio Norwich, before downsizing to North Norfolk Digital. But if there is one thing for certain – it’s that Alan is still going, and now, with his debut feature film impending, we had the pleasure of talking to his creator, the great Steve Coogan.

Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa – which is released across the United Kingdom on August 7 – features Alan as the mediator during a heist, whereby a former colleague is keeping his employers hostage and Alan is the mouthpiece between the perpetrator and the law enforcement. Looking somewhat more youthful, we speak to Steve about the decision to give Alan a new lease of life, while he also tells us about bringing the much loved character Lynn back to our screens. Steve also discusses the forthcoming second series of The Trip – and speaking of second series, we asked whether or not Alan will ever get one of his own…
