With a background predominantly in overstated comedy – director David Gordon Green is now turning attentions to a more bleak, pensive style of filmmaking, with his latest feature Prince Avalanche – and we had the pleasure in speaking to the Pineapple Express director about his latest project.

Set in the 1980s, Prince Avalanche is a remake of Icelandic drama Either Way, and stars Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch in the two lead roles, who are out in the Texan wilderness rebuilding an area torn apart by a devastating fire. Gordon Green discusses the remaking process, turning Paul Rudd towards drama, and even speaks about a special guest appearance in the film – of somebody who was genuinely involved in the fire of which this picture is based upon.

Prince Avalanche hits cinemas on August 18, and you can read our review here
