The team at HeyUGuys rarely struggle with a case of the Mondays. We are blessed with an office space that encompasses screening rooms, red carpets, funky hotel suites and movie sets. And each new week brings new adventures our way. Nevertheless, last Monday was a stand out day as Disney hosted an action packed junket for Planes 2: Fire and Rescue. We have never battled flames in the name of movies before…

Planes 2: Fire and Rescue follows plucky racing plane Dusty Crophopper on an heroic new journey as he faces the prospect of a life without victories. We sat down with director Bobs Gannaway and producer Ferrell Barron to discuss Dusty’s life as a fledgling fire fighter, the challenge of dovetailing old characters into a brand new world and the real world inspiration behind the Fire and Rescue story.

Later we took to the skies with Ferrell and Bobs as our tour guides on an exhilarating helicopter flight and learnt more about the demands of bringing the Piston Peak air attack crew to life, the hyper realistic fire effects and a cheeky instance of poetic licence with the laws of physics. We closed out the day by tackling a real blaze with the help of Redhill Aerodrome’s Fire and Rescue Service (RFFS).

Throughout our adventure we had Fire and Recue heroes Sergeant Paul Sochon, Richard De Coverly and Robert Webster Safo on hand to talk us through their roles with the Police Air Support, Kent and Surrey Air Ambulance and Aerodrome Fire and Rescue Service. It was a privilege to be offered insight into their work and we thank them, Disney, Grapevine and all at Redhill for a warm welcome and an unforgettable day.

Planes: Fire and Rescue opens in Scotland August 1st and across the rest of the UK on August 8th.
