Disney+ has released the official trailer for ‘In the Blink of an Eye,’ the latest feature from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton. The ambitious, time-spanning drama will debut exclusively on Disney+ on February 27, 2026.
Based on Colby Day’s acclaimed 2016 Black List screenplay, ‘In the Blink of an Eye’ unfolds as an interwoven triptych that explores humanity’s enduring desire for connection. Spanning millennia, the film links three distinct storylines that echo one another across time, each reflecting on survival, love, and the fragile bond between people and the world they inhabit.
In the distant past, a Neanderthal family, played by Jorge Vargas and Tanaya Beatty, is forced from their home and pushed to the brink of survival. As they protect their children, they learn to harness primitive tools while navigating an unforgiving prehistoric landscape.
In the present day, Claire (Rashida Jones), a determined post-graduate anthropologist studying ancient proto-human remains, forms a tentative relationship with fellow student Greg (Daveed Diggs). Their growing connection mirrors the discoveries Claire is making about humanity’s earliest ancestors and their struggle to endure.
Two centuries into the future, the story shifts aboard a spaceship travelling toward a distant planet. Coakley (Kate McKinnon) and the vessel’s sentient onboard computer must confront a mysterious disease that threatens the ship’s oxygen-producing plants, placing the survival of the entire mission in jeopardy.
These three narratives gradually intersect, forming a reflective meditation on hope, connection, and the cyclical nature of life itself. The footage highlights Stanton’s signature blend of emotional intimacy and high-concept storytelling, pairing sweeping visuals with deeply human moments.
‘In the Blink of an Eye’ stars Kate McKinnon (Bombshell, Saturday Night Live, Ghostbusters), Rashida Jones (On the Rocks, Parks and Recreation), Daveed Diggs (Hamilton), Jorge Vargas (Snowpiercer), and Tanaya Beatty (Yellowstone). The film is directed by Andrew Stanton (WALL·E, Finding Nemo), produced by Jared Ian Goldman (Ingrid Goes West, Russian Doll), and written by Colby Day (Spaceman, For All Mankind), who also serves as executive producer.
