Idris Elba has entered into early negotiations to join the live-action adaptation of ‘Masters of the Universe’ to play Man-at-Arms.

Elba would join Alison Brie who is on board to take on the role of Evil-Lyn, the key villain, Nicholas Galitzine who leads the series as He-Man, while Camila Mendes will play the role of Teela, the captain of the royal guard and possible romantic interest.

Based on the 1982 action figure. Plot details are being kept under wraps. However, according to a prior synopsis from the studio, the movie follows Prince Adam a.k.a. He-Man, who crashes to Earth in a spaceship as a child and, decades later, returns to his home planet to defend it from the evil forces of the baddie known as Skeletor. But to defeat the powerful villain, he needs to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man, referred to in this world as “the most powerful man in the universe.”

Travis Knight, the filmmaker behind ‘Bumblebee’ is stepping up to take the director’s chair Chris Butler is writing the screenplay after David Callaham and the Nee brothers first attempted a shot at the script.
