We have a wonderful culture of excellent female British detectives on British television, ranging from the likes of Prime Suspect to Miss Marple, or more recently with Broadchurch and Line of Duty – and now we can add Harlan Coben’s Safe to that list, which launches on Netflix on May 10th.

Hannah Arterton, alongside Amanda Abbington, is bestowed such a role and we had the pleasure of interviewing the former to mark the launch of this exciting new series. She tells us what attracted her to the project, and how much fun it is for actors to get their teeth stuck into a role that allows so much room for development.

She also discusses what it’s been like portraying a detective on screen, and recalls her own experiences reading the script for the first time, as a show that leaves you wanting more with every passing episode. She talks about working with Michael C. Hall, and comments on her own rise through the industry, and what it was about being an actor that appealed to her so greatly from a young age. Finally, we discuss her forthcoming movie Peripheral.
