Writer and director James Gunn confirmed today that he’s back at work on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and with that comes our first look at the movie’s logo. Reusing the same font as the first instalment, it adds a very cool looking “Vol. 2”, and Gunn said via Facebook that, “To quote the great poet David Coverdale, Here I Go Again.”

Not an awful lot is known about the sequel as of right now. Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight) is rumoured to be up for the role of Star-Lord’s father, and Manta is expected to join the team, but other than that, plot details are being kept firmly under wraps. It’s a good job then that Gunn has confirmed that announcement in regards to the cast will likely be made next week!

With that will hopefully come an official synopsis, but we already know Thanos won’t appear.

“Thanos will not appear in Vol 2. No,” Gunn stated in a recent Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Q&A on Facebook. “As I’ve said before, Thanos isn’t in this movie. I think he’s gonna have a little bit to do and say when it comes to certain wars and infinity. We’ve got other fish to fry in Guardians Vol 2.” In fact, it doesn’t sound like it will build to Avengers: Infinity War at all! “We’re not really so much about the Infinity Stones in Guardians 2. It’s not really a thing.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is currently set to be released on April 28th, 2017.
