It’s only a couple of weeks now until Green Lantern debuts on the big screen. Thor impressed and entertained for the most part and now X-Men:First Class is attracting sterling reviews as well. Can Green Lantern overcome the relatively low brand recognition and inherent silliness factor and make a strong showing?

In what looks like an effort to reassure us that it is a proper film, this featurette gives us a bunch of footage with which we are mostly pretty familiar and mixes it with contributions from Ryan Reynolds and the production crew, as well as a bit of on-set footage. There is a bit more of Parallax on show than before, with a couple of nice shots of people being absorbed/disintegrated, but it remains to be seen whether a malevolent cloud can be more effectively presented than the slightly lacklustre effort for Galactus from 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

No doubt someone out there can explain to me the myriad ways in which the two are nothing alike, information for which I would be genuinely grateful. In the meantime, enjoy the featurette here or check it out below, which, in all honesty, is beginning to make something of a believer out of an erstwhile cynic.

Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
