Gravity-PosterHaving made its debut out in Venice at the end of last month, Alfonso Cuarón’s hugely anticipated Gravity will be arriving in theatres in the coming weeks.

Led by Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, the movie has already been earning very promising reviews on the festival circuit – you can read our review here – all of which cement its status as a strong contender for the coming Oscar season.

Warner Bros. launched the first full-length trailer last week. And following it up nicely is a new TV spot, which continues to focus on the intensity soon to be hitting cinemas.

Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness.

The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left.

But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

Cuarón (Children of Men) is directing from a script he co-wrote with his son, Jonás Cuarón (Year of the Nail).

Gravity will be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on October 4th in the US. Here in the UK, it will be arriving a little later on 8th November, in order to accommodate an appearance at the BFI London Film Festival next month.
