Glenn Close (Air Force One) and Elizabeth Olsen (Silent House) have signed on to topline period drama Therese Raquin.

Adapted from Emilie Zola’s play by screenwriter Charlie Stratton, Therese Raquin centers on a young woman who enters a passionate affair with her husband’s best friend, leading to tragedy.

Stratton will make his directorial debut on the film, with production expected to commence early next year.

Close will next be seen in Albert Nobbs, while Olsen stars in the much buzzed about Martha Marcy May Marlene.
