Chris Evans has left behind the tight lycra suit of Captain America and gone all soft as he takes on the role as a single man raising his child prodigy niece in the upcoming Gifted, and we have the new trailer which is bound to have the ladies melting into a pile of quivering mess.
As with many films with young actors, the trailer shows McKenna Grace as a lovable ‘smart ass’ kid who promises to outshine her much older co-stars on a picture which is due to tug on the heart strings whilst dousing you with a much needed gentle humour.
No stranger to a film which, let’s face it, is directed at a more fairer audience than those who adore his Marvel comic book superhero, Chris Evans has starred in some rather dubious “chick flicks” such as What’s Your Number and 2014’s Before We Go. Joining Evans on this production is Mckenna Grace (Independence Day: Resurgence) as his niece Mary, Hidden Figures and The Help star, Octavia Spencer, Jenny Slate (Zootopia, The Secret Life of Pets) as his love interest – well there had to be one (we aren’t going to go into their off-screen relationship) – and Lindsey Duncan (Birdman, Alice Through The Looking Glass) as his mother.
Gifted is directed by Marc Webb (500 Days Of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man); produced by Karen Lunder and Andy Cohen.
Gifted is in cinemas from Friday the 16th of June.
Gifted Official Synopsis
Frank Adler (Chris Evans) is a single man raising a child prodigy – his spirited young niece Mary (Mckenna Grace) – in a coastal town in Florida. Frank’s plans for a normal school life for Mary are foiled when the seven-year old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of Frank’s formidable mother Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan) whose plans for her granddaughter threaten to separate Frank and Mary. Octavia Spencer plays Roberta, Frank and Mary’s landlady and best friend. Jenny Slate is Mary’s teacher, Bonnie, a young woman whose concern for her student develops into a connection with her uncle as well.
