Gemma Arterton (recently seen as Tamara Drewe) has been cast as the female lead in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, TheWrap have confirmed.
Arterton will star opposite Jeremy Renner (The Town) in Paramount Pictures’ dark action thriller.
Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters follows the siblings from the famous fairy tale as adult bounty hunters bent on avenging the incident that traumatized them as children.
Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow) is attached to direct.
Filming is set to commence on March 7 in Berlin, Germany for a late 2011/early 2012 release.
