We’ve grown quite accustomed to enjoying the first days of Spring with a new series of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Last year Season 6 of the show moved beyond the published work by George R. R. Martin and that meant book readers and show watchers were in it together. It was a heady time. Dany and her ever-growing brood of dragons finally set off for Westeros, Cersei taught Machiavelli a few things on her way to the Iron Throne and f.

With the show entering its final stretch, and two shorter season set for this year and next, we have to wait until July to see what happens next. While we wait for a trailer of substance (the previously released promo was a portentous montage of people walking…) HBO have release some equally info-absent images from the forthcoming season.

We’ve gleaned what we could from the images on show – jump in with us…

Game of Thrones Season 7

Moody Jon Snow, probably in the Winterfell crypt knocking the walls through to make room for the ever-expanding GRRM’s Stark depository.

How cool does this man look? Proudly wearing his hand of the Queen brooch thing, pointing to… well, that’s Tyrion all over.

SHE’S BACK! And if there’s any justice she’ll turn 180 degrees and whack Littlefinger around the face with a mace before feeding his duplicitous moustache to the bears.

Economy Plus travel Westeros style.

Looking longingly at Greyworm. Or Dany. Or the publication date of The Winds of Winter.

If Westeros was set in the Eastenders universe Varys would be a Mitchell brother. Now here’s Dany and her Targaryen clobber. Just out of sight – dragons.

Our other favourite character – Ser Davos, about to stew an onion with his little fingers.

No, not this Little Finger. Seriously, how sly does the man look here? Imagine him ordering at a restaurant.

A morning dash for the Hound, on the lookout for chicken, kings and keys to a (Clegane)bowl to have his breakfast in.

And sweet Arya, taking a moment to consider other variants for her Frey Pie eatery.

Sam and Gilly proofread the Reddit fan theories.

Now this is how you tell someone you’re into them. Tormund’s ‘come to bed’ eyes are the expressive equivalent of a thirsty dog spying a leaky tap. I wonder if Jaime Lannister is hand to the Queen? That’s a bit below the belt… Come and play with us Dany. For ever. And ever. And ever…

Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres exclusively on 17th July on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV at 2am, repeated at 9pm on the same day.
