Game-of-ThronesMarch is finally here, and for fans of the first two seasons, that can only mean one thing: Game of Thrones Season 3 is almost here. The new ten-episode-long season returns us to the world of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice Novels, following the end of season two last summer.

Needless to say, there’s a lot of anticipation surrounding its return.

The majority of the cast is expected to return, led up by Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Michelle Fairley, Natalie Dormer, Jack Gleeson, Kit Harrington, and Lena Headey.

And coming on board for the new season will be Iwan Rheon, Ciarán Hinds, Noah Taylor, Kerry Ingram, Charlotte Hope, Clive Russell, Mackenzie Crook, Paul Kaye, Nathalie Emmanuel, and many more.

Series co-creators and long-time writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will be making their small screen debuts behind the camera this season on the third episode. It’s always nice to see the writers (and, here, creators) take on the helm, and no doubt fans will be looking forward to the creators’ vision directing their own script.

Daniel Minahan returns to direct the first two episodes, having helmed a trio of episodes in Season 1. And he’ll be joined by Alex Graves (The West Wing), Alik Sakharov (Dexter), Michelle MacLaren (Breaking Bad), and David Nutter (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). A very nice line-up of directors, for sure.

Game of Thrones Season 3 will return on HBO on 31st March in the US, with its UK premiere date set for 1st April on Sky Atlantic. For now, here’s the new extended trailer to keep the anticipation on high.
